WHAT ARE THE REASONS ASTROLOGY WORKS?

Tremendous biological, chemical and physiological changes occur at the instant a new born baby draws in the first breath and consequently lets out his or her first cry.  In the Scriptures it is said, “I will breathe the breath of life into them”.   At this moment in time, more than 400 million electromagnetic cells in the brain become programmed, like a computer by the invisible, but powerful cosmic frequencies, or light waves, coming from our Sun, our Moon and the planets in our solar system.  This occurs in a pattern corresponding to their position in space and their mathematically and astronomically -measured aspects to one another in that magnetically-charged moment in time.  The baby  will feel a powerful electromagnetic tug and become “programmed” so to speak.

If this baby could see the heavens above at that moment, he or she would see their birth chart.  This tug actually can be accepted or rejected through the gift of free will, each time in the future when the Sun, Moon and planets conflict or harmonize with each other and the baby’s programmed natal chart.  However, after doing hundreds of birth charts, I have found that most people do live out their chart and experience recurring planetary transits in the working out of their lives.  Transits can trigger a psychological response or an actual life experience, depending on the angle each planet is making to each planet in the birth chart.  These are called conjunctions, oppositions, sextiles, trines or squares (as well as minor aspects not listed) and depending on the angle, these feelings or experiences will appear to be happy or helpful, perhaps challenging or irritating or frustrating.  But, all serve a purpose in our lives, to help us along or to teach us lessons that also ultimately help us along on our path to growth.good teaching wheel.

STARTING OUT WITH THE ASTROLOGY GAME OF CARDS – A Quick Tutorial

The Astrology Game of Cards:    A good place to begin to enjoy the Basics of Astrology!

my cards learning layout

There are 4 cards for each Zodiac Sign in the above picture.

  • Column 1 shows  the Number cards
  • Column 2 shows the Constellation cards
  • Column 3 shows the Key Word cards
  • Column 4 shows the Symbol cards

Notice that on the left column, the Number cards start at the 1st sign Aries and go down to the 12th sign Pisces.  Each of the other columns do exactly the same, showing them in order from Aries to Pisces.   Shuffle the cards and find one card for each of the different types.  Then sort all of the cards into different piles; each pile made up of the same kind of card.  Then, starting with the Number cards, sort that pile into the order of their place in the Zodiac.

Notice that at the very top are two of the Helper cards…one showing the Order of the signs, and the other is an example of a Horoscope Wheel.

The helper card should now be used to help you sort each of the columns from Aries to Pisces.

If you play with the cards this way a few times, you will rapidly become familiar with them and this knowledge will be helpful as you begin to play all the fun games to follow!

If you look at the Symbols cards, you will learn the dates that each sign falls within.  e.g. Aries falls between March 22 and April 20th.  ( The dates for each sign can change according to your year of birth.  Birthdays on a cusp need a Birth Chart  done to determine their actual sign.  e.g. the beginning or end dates could change if you were born close to the beginning or end of a sign.

Now that you are familiar with the cards, a great game to start with is the “old fashioned” game of  WAR.   After shuffling, the deck is divided between the players.  Without looking at their cards, each player simultaneously plays their top card and the highest sign takes all the cards (Pisces being the highest card for this game).  If there is a tie, each then lays 3 cards face down spelling out w-a-r and turns up the 4th card proclaiming the word war and the highest card takes all cards in that play.  The largest pile wins!

Now you are ready to play some more great games!  See my Blog on How to Play The Astrology Game of Cards, which is also on the Menu Bar.

A FULL MOON CHRISTMAS

old fash santa animated

On Christmas, December 25th this year, we will have a Full Moon in the sign of chatty, communicative Gemini.  The last time we had a full moon on Christmas was in 1977!

So, with families joining together to celebrate the holiday, be aware that full moons bring out the crazies!  Be patient and tolerant and drive carefully.  Lunatic is a word derived from Luna, the name of the moon and when the moon is full, it’s in full energy phase.   It has a strong effect on the tides and even on the fluids in our body; and this time will also be affecting what people say.  You might have to bite your tongue more than once!  Please be aware of the energies out there and make this a happy, serene holiday for yourself and others.  trees and hearts

WISHING ALL MY READERS A MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND A HAPPY, PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2016!!

Tonight Venus And Jupiter Will Seem To Merge And Form A “Double Star”

jupiter venus great picSome are saying that for the first time in over two thousand years, the star of Bethlehem will reappear in the western sky, tonight, June 30th.  This is of both historical and religious significance, the last time this particular celestial configuration was seen, the first coming of Christ was recorded in the New Testaments of the Holy Bible, between the years 3 and 2 B.C.

Venus is the planet named after the Goddess of love, and Jupiter is named after the God of Thunder.  On Earth, they will appear so close together that they will look like a dramatic “double star.”   These two planets have been gradually approaching each other for the last few weeks, creeping toward their closest point: 1/3° apart. That’s close enough to be able to see them while covering them with the tip of your pinky finger.  Actually they are about 416 million miles apart in space.

The planets will also look like they are the same size, but Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and Venus is smaller than our Earth.   Because of their relative distances, they appear to be of a similar size when viewed from Earth.

This converging of two planets is known as a conjunction. A conjunction between Jupiter and Venus is not unusual; they were last seen close together in the sky in August of 2014, but this is an extremely close conjunction like the one believed to be the bright double star the Wise Men followed in Bethlehem .

Look West to Northwest tonight right after dark and you will see them with the naked eye.   The Moon, Mars, Mercury and Saturn can also be easily seen tonight.  If you use binoculars or a telescope, you can actually see Jupiter’s four large moon.

Note: The above picture was taken this evening of Jupiter and Venus together from the App called “Skyview” !

About The Moon Sign in Your Chart

moon on your birthThe Moon sign in your chart has everything to do with your emotions.  It’s important to know where yours is located to understand your moods, habits, feelings, romantic inclinations and even your relationship with your mother!

There is much to be said about the Moon in each of the signs and here I will just mention a few facts about each Moon sign.  Also, analyzing the degrees of your Moon sign will give added information about you.   I will randomly select one from each sign as an example.  A lot of my information is from Sybil Leek, an old-time Astrologer who lived from 1917 to 1982 and has over fifty books published.

celestial pictureMoon in Aries people – A lot of energy is wasted on ideas that seem to fall apart and are not followed up by action.  There is lots of charm and enthusiasm.

Taurus Moon – They want love with all the frills and there is lots of attachment to family life.   They like music in their career.  There is  good common sense.

Gemini Moon – Constantly searching for new experiences.  Quick to deal with emergencies because they don’t know the meaning of fear, and they will take chances.

Cancerian Moon – The moon is at home here.  Moods range from high excitement to the depths of depression but neither mood lasts long.  Very shrewd, they can make money easily.

Leo Moon – Very loving and loveable folks.  They enjoy children and see them as a reflection of themselves and find it hard to let them go.   Very responsible in business life.

Virgo Moon – They love being admired for their bodily fitness.  But when obsessed, they can become very irritating insisting others exercise and diet.  Lots of analyzing going on.

Libra Moon – Charming and considerate with very good manners.   They understand other points of view and have pretty good judgment.   Don’t underestimate them.

Scorpio Moon – Phenomenal memories, even recalling childhood days.  They know how to hide their true feelings, but are extremely sensitive.  They have a strong need for secrecy.

Sagittarius Moon – They just know who they are and where they are going.  There can be optimism to the point of carelessness.  They believe they are lucky and they are good friends.

Capricorn Moon – Work and power are all important, little attention is paid to sentiment.   Many achieve world fame.  Men seem to cope with this Moon more effectively than women.

Moon in Aquarius – An outlet is needed for the vivid imagination.  They may seek out unusual relationships and love to study metaphysics and the occult sciences.  A strong need for personal freedom.

Moon in Pisces – Very strong intuition.  They want to do good for as many people as possible. May feel the world is so ill-adjusted that they want to reject it, but guidance teaches that this is part of their karmic experience.

DEGREES OF THE MOON ANALYZED:

Aries Moon – 1 degree – is usually a very shy person.

Taurus Moon – 14 degrees – Needs encouragement in youth to mix with others, feels inadequate.

Gemini Moon – 24 degrees – Dabbles in art appreciation, but not a producer.  Always lost in admiring the work of others.

Cancer Moon – 6 degrees – Unable to cope with money; either the lack of it or too much of it – money just comes and flows away, usually on trivial things.

Leo Moon – 17 degrees – Circumstances will probably take them away from their native land.

Virgo Moon – 24 degrees – Not likely to get married.

Libra Moon – 9 degrees – Aggressive nature; usually enjoys a good fight.

Scorpio Moon – 25 degrees – May be a wolf in sheep’s clothing when it comes to attracting the opposite sex.

Sagittarius Moon – 23 degrees – Emotionally insecure, difficult to find a stable companion to share life, so the insecurity deepens.  Several failed marriages later, they will still be searching.

Capricorn Moon – 24 degrees – May be blunt in speaking, yet friends recognize their sincerity and respect is earned.

Aquarius Moon – 28 degrees – Often found in compulsive gamblers.

Pisces Moon – 29 degrees – Lack of initiative as much as lack of opportunity makes them feel like a leaf being swept along in the wind.  They can rarely stay where they want to be or do what they would like to do.

IS ASTROLOGY TRUE? DISCOVER THIS FOR YOURSELF!

I like what Derek and Julia Parker have to say in one of my favorite books,  The Compleat Astrologer.

astrology_astronomy_medicine picture

Astrology has always served to enlarge our understanding.  Changes have been made in recent years that promise to have a major effect on the progress of astrology; the new directions it can be expected to take, and the attitudes people are likely to adopt towards it.

These changes are mysterious and illuminating. Progressive astrologers, attempting to relate astrology to a science-oriented society are working with hardheaded scientists.  Looking at other points of view, common ground has been discovered in the field of biological rhythms and cycles, enough to show that astrologers and scientists are becoming very compatible.

The age of Aquarius holds a new fascination for the younger generation in search of meaning, although astrology is for people of all ages and generations. It knows no cultural or age differences.  Astrological truths are for all of us and hold us all together as a human family.

planets pretty

But is astrology true?  You must discover this for yourself.  No one can be persuaded simply by being told about it.  You have to choose to learn more about it.  To understand the influence of the heavenly bodies on mankind, we must understand the science behind astrology and the techniques of its art.  Astrologers honor and respect the truths of past masters.  We want to cast a deeper, clearer light on human life.

A star was the ancient Sumerian symbol for divinity. The stars provided a very impressive background to the interaction of other celestial bodies. Today we are naturally aware that the sun and moon exert a strong physical influence on our lives.  Back then, the Sun kept people warm and faded in the winter; day alternated with night, the sea rose and fell with the tides. These were mysterious processes of growth and decay, and the ebb and flow of the natural order helped provide a physical explanation of the universe.
From the viewpoint of earth, the stars turn around us in the pattern that is virtually unchanging from one year to the next.   The shifts that constantly occur were so slight that they were hardly noticed by the earliest observers.  The seven major bodies were noticed because of their rapid movement against the starry background of sky.  Early observers noticed the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.  In  Babylonian times there are stories written about  the planets, sun and moon representing gods with the power to direct or intervene in life, each one being allocated power over an area of human experience.

from Mars seeing Earth and Jupitr   The view from Mars of Earth and Jupiter

For example, Mercury was seen as a quick, cunning and wise god. Mars was the ruler of violence and war; Jupiter was a benevolent king-like ruler of men; Saturn was seen as a distant cooling sun in exile; quick-tempered and cruel.  Gradually, as these associations gained in authority, they were joined together to form the basis of astrological lore.

To add a little humor, today I saw this written:  God made the planet Saturn and he liked it, so he put a ring on it!!! saturn rings

THE CANCERIAN MOON CHILD

It is the Summer Solstice and the beginning of the sign of Cancer, or as I prefer to say, the Moonchild!  This period runs from the 21st or 22nd of June to the 21st or 22nd of July.  These dates are changeable depending on the year of birth.    Cancer is a feminine water sign ruled by the moon.  This is the first of the three water signs. The moon affects Cancerians by causing them to be moody, emotional, sensitive, romantic, sentimental and they cry easily.  This is the earth mother of the zodiac, who will nurture and feed anyone who walks in her door.

Moon children are drawn to all types of people and absorb the energy of all the people they meet.  They can be easily drained with their sympathetic ear as they listen to others’ troubles.  Moon children tend to take on others’ problems and offer a lot of sympathy.  They are very sensitive to everything going on with their own family.  They enjoy their home and make it very comfortable and attractive.   They have a constant need for change, which can confuse others and are not very easy to understand.  People tend to come and go in their lives.   However, with those little crab claws (their symbol) they do hang on to certain friends and partners as long as possible.

Picture of Cancer the crab

Moon children have strong intuition and should always pay attention to their hunches. Most of them  have  a very retentive memory recalling even small events from the past in great detail.    They are very idealistic and always do the best job they can. But they will move on and usually by the third year of a job or project, they are ready for a change. Moon children enjoy all kinds of ceremonies and rituals.  They are shrewd in business and in life.  They have the ability to be child-like, and that is not childish!  They use this to their advantage, completing projects that more experienced people could not do.   They are very generous in big ways, but not as much with the little things.  Their personal things mean a lot to them and they are very possessive of them.  If they loan something out and it is not taken care of, or returned, this can upset them very much.

The Cancerian imagination can bring them success in artistic work, writing, or anything creative.    However, when things are not going well, they become easily upset, imagining that others have upset them on purpose. Then they get into a low mood and withdraw.   They are more inclined to cry than to resort to their temper in order to release their frustrations.   Like their symbol the crab, they do not move directly forward in life but tend to move erratically sideways before eventually attaining their goal.  As a Cardinal sign, they are able to accept leadership and the control of most situations if called for, although they do not usually directly seek leadership.   They rely on their charms to get their way and can adapt, even if temporarily, to any of the other signs.  Friendships can always be renewed with very little animosity on the part of either person.

Favorable climate:   They can thrive in almost any climate, but they may not feel quite as well in a very dry desert- like climate as they do near the water.   Being outgoing,  they thrive best in populated cities,  the seashore, and lake communities.

Favorable sports:  swimming, sailing, dance, tennis, racquetball, ping pong.

Favored flowers:  Water lilies, larkspur, jasmine, nocturnal flowers, roses

Perfumes and scents: Light florals, cinnamon, Bay leaves, camphor, cedar, sandalwood, poppy

Best day of the week: Monday the day associated with the moon

Favorable metals:  silver, aluminum

Favorite precious stones:  Pearls, crystals, diamonds, emeralds, opals, onyx

Favorable colors:  Spring shades of green,  iridescent hues, pink, silver

Musical keynote:  They vibrate best to “B”

Best number:  Two

Necessary Herbs:  Peppermint, chamomile, basil, garlic, slippery elm, balm

Favorable trees and plants:  Crabapple, sugarcane, mango, banana, all trees with sap

Wines and Liquors:   sparkling champagne and white wine, mint liquors

It has been said that the luckiest dads have a Cancerian daughter who will always be there for them no matter what!   Since this is my sign, I especially enjoyed writing this post.

WHAT ARE THE REASONS ASTROLOGY WORKS?

This is what I have learned about this topic:

But, all serve a purpose in our lives, to help us along or to teach us lessons, that also ultimately help us along.
