Astrology – A Cosmic Code

Dating back to early Sumerian and Babylonian times and later in Egyptian writings, celestial symbols have been found on monuments. We read that Abraham was told by God to observe the skies and see therein the future. The number twelve figured prominently in the old writings.

It seems the information was given to Jacob about the Constellations. When Jacob was near death, he called his twelve sons to bless them and foretell their future. As told in the “Prophecy of Jacob”, he associated his oldest son Reuben with the zodiacal constellation of Aries. Back then it was the constellation of the spring equinox instead of Taurus. Simeon and Levi were lumped together as the Twins, the constellation of Gemini. Judah was compared to a Lion, which is Leo, Zebulun was called Aquarius the water bearer. Then Rachel’s sons .. Joseph was the Bowman of Sagittarius and Benjamin substituted for his sister Dinah, the Virgo. Gad was a Scorpio and Naphtali was a Capricorn.

The floors in the remains of the Jewish Synagogues in the Holy Land are decorated with the zodiacal circle of twelve constellations depicted by their ancient symbols. The Hebrews were familiar with the zodiac and also the association with predictions of the future, called fate. They cried Mazol-tov and still do at weddings and Ba Mitzvahs and it is thought to mean good luck, but it literally means “a good/favorable zodiacal constellation”.

In Babylonian times, a corps of astronomer-priests observed the heavens and assumed a key role in royal decisions. The fate of the King, the land, and nations were divined from the position of the planets in a particular zodiacal constellation. Records have been found of hundreds of engraved tablets revealing heavenly phenomena interpreted to foretell invasions, famines, floods, civil unrest, or long life for the King, a stable dynasty, victory in war, prosperity. They were written down on clay tablets. In all instances, Fate was deemed to be indicated by the heavens.

Today’s astrology roots go back well beyond the Babylonians, the Chaldeans of Greek reports. Fate and the Zodiac began at least when the calendar began, in Nippur in 3760 B.C. which is when the Jewish calendar began. Also recorded in the Egyptian “Book of the Dead”, is the fact that one’s hope for an eternal afterlife depends on the weighing of the heart on the Day of Judgment. At the time of the Exodus, the first constellation, that of the spring equinox was Aries, not Taurus. Also, in the heavens Fate had twelve stations.

Dividing the heavens into twelve parts is a highly sophisticated astronomy, one so advanced that man by himself, could not have known it when this division of the celestial circle began. How could the Sumerians have known all that they did? They themselves provided the answer. “All that we know was taught to us by the Anunnaki” (Those who from heaven to earth came). It is known from these early writings that they came from another planet with a vast orbital period and a longevity in which one year encompassed 3,600 of Earth years. They therefore had no difficulty discerning Precession of the Equinoxes and devising the twelve part zodiac.

Ancient Science and Religion texts which were also passed on in other tongues, including the biblical Hebrew have considered the Sumerian tales of the Anunnaki of the ancient gods to be Mythology. Our knowledge of the Greek Mythology and that of all the nations stemmed from the original Sumerian beliefs and texts. The Sumerians told that there was a time before civilized man was on earth, when animals were wild and crops not yet cultivated, when there arrived on Earth a group of fifty Anunnaki who journeyed from their home planet Nibiru, meaning ‘the planet of crossing’ and reaching earth they splashed down in the waters of the Persian Gulf. They found fish and fowl to eat and then began to make bricks from the clay of the soil and established the first-ever settlement on earth by extraterrestrials.

I have found this information to be totally fascinating and much of it correlates with our Biblical Old Testament, but in so much more detail.

What the Ancient Wisdom Teaches About the Astrological Signs

History is full of stories showing the importance given to Astrology and Astronomy was seen as the foundation of Astrology.  All priests and governors in olden days had to have knowledge of the science of the stars and the science of numbers.  Astrology was always used to map out a person’s life.  The history of a race or country can also be determined by the influences of the day it began.  The twelve Zodiac signs represent the twelve lessons of human existence; the twelve qualities to be gradually achieved by every human being, life after life, but not necessarily sign after sign.  We have free will and can choose to work under a particular sign more often than the others or even disregard a specific sign, although this would produce a one-sided character and happens less often. 

The first sign, Aries, whose symbol is the ram, represents the first experience of life, the beginning of the human journey and bestows extreme physical activity, caring and impulsiveness.  They are ruled by Mars, the warrior.  Aries represents the head and Aries folks use their brains intensely, although without much experience of life to back them up.   At this, the beginning of the human journey, our human uses their quick-working brain and is eager and brave.  He or she is ready to lead and wants to help, but is yet a poor judge of character and can be easily deceived.  They make poor subordinates.  They need to guard against over-working their brains and need plenty of sleep. 

The second sign, Taurus, the bull, is very strong and plodding, but if suddenly aroused, they plunge swiftly to their goal and like the bull, they can be slowly aroused to anger.  Ruled by Venus, they learn lessons about loving deeply with their whole heart and with great devotion and also about money, planting and harvesting, working the earth patiently.  They are great agriculturists and nature lovers, singers and poets.  They are courageous and devoted people.  Their major problems come from overly luxurious living with much love for food and drink.  They are patient and determined.

The third sign, Gemini, the twins, ruled by the planet Mercury gives humans the next lesson which is how to use the brain for practical matters and for reasoning.   This gives a dual type of mind that can see both sides, and which also has great interest in every new idea presented.  They love to share their knowledge and make great teachers and writers.  Geminis are changeable and ambitious and their brains race up and down the tree of knowledge.  Given brilliance and quickness, they learn to develop a logical reasoning mind with rapid thought.  These qualities rely on the nervous system more than the brain, so they need to guard against overworking their sensitive nerves. 

The fourth sign, Cancer, the crab, ruled by the Moon comes in with the accumulated experience of the first three signs and the next lesson is to learn how to apply it.  Great patience and tenacity are given along with the talent for parenthood and family life.  This is the nurturing earth mother and even the men enjoy cooking and being in their secure homes.  There is restlessness too, causing an occasional desire to travel away from home.  Cancerians are like crabs, moving forward and then turning back or going sideways on to something else and so live a life of ups and downs.  The Moon makes them deeply sensitive and passionate for life.  They require discipline and order in their world.  Their accumulated experience now makes them ready to be good in the business world as well in the home.

The fifth sign, Leo, the Lion, ruled by the Sun incarnates with a great deal of knowledge of the human side of life and can produce very fine results.  The task for them is to go forth and become a powerful and well-developed human, capable of high achievements.    Often kings of men and people of power are born as Leos.  They are big-hearted, strong mentally and physically, proud, ambitious and popular.  Because they have not yet reached divine intuition, they may misunderstand and think less of those weaker than themselves.  They do, however, attract many followers.  Friends may cause them disillusionment because Leo is not used to adapting to the ways of others.

The sixth sign, Virgo the virgin, is ruled by Mercury just like Gemini.  They come in to learn discrimination.   At this point, humans have risen to great heights through using impulsiveness, forcefulness and a growing talent for self-expression.   Virgo is given a natural fastidiousness and a critical eye.  They are to begin from the angle of a critic rather than a person of action like the Mercury ruled Gemini.  They are adaptable and make excellent subordinates, work well and are usually successful.   They have exquisite taste.  Virgos will organize us.  They are the restaurant keepers, journalists, art critics and health workers. 

Up to this point Man has learned to be a complete human being, but only half the journey is accomplished.  The second half is about learning to become a spiritual person and live in both the world of power and spirit while on earth and have the mind be in touch with the Divine.  Here we learn there is more to life than the physical world.  Things become harder to understand, and the first thing our human must now learn is balance. 

The seventh sign, Libra, the scales, is ruled by Venus just as Taurus is.  Librans can actually miss many opportunities in life through too much weighing and balancing through over-thinking things.  Now the human is becoming psychic and intuitive and would do better going with the first impression.  There is a lot of love in Libra, but it has now become more mental than physical.  They are able to love abstract things such as harmony, peace, justice and beauty.  They truly dislike all disharmony in life.  They will avoid an argument and this is because the refining process has begun.  They are definitely not cowardly or weak.  They are the lawyers, judges and specialists, the architects and researchers.  Many Librans hold themselves back, afraid to let themselves go; and so to compensate they may tend to overwork.

The eighth sign, Scorpio, the scorpion or eagle, ruled by Pluto and before its discovery by Mars.  Our next lesson is to transmute the tender passion of love to the higher planes.  Scorpios have magnetic, forceful personalities and others feel fascinated by them and they can draw fanatical devotion.  This sign produces many saints and many villains too; both the best and the worst!   They can be their own worst enemy, or else have the beginnings of wisdom and attainment of high spirituality.    They usually pass through the fire of the temptation of sex in all its forms to learn that it is the sex-force that gets used for higher attainment.  There is versatility and loyalty and they are capable of swaying others.  They are proud and ambitious, with intense and enduring feelings. 

The ninth sign, Sagittarius, the archer is ruled by Jupiter and the goal now is truth and the beginnings of unselfishness.  Sagittarians instinctively believe that truth is beautiful and they wish to spread it around joyfully.   They love life and travel and are full of humor.  They can be domineering and stubborn, but they always attempt to make others happy.  They are very hospitable and since they contain the qualities of all the preceding signs, they are very versatile.  Music and ceremony appeal and they will give great encouragement to music, the arts and the pleasures and luxuries of life.   Their agile minds cause them to jump to results without patient study.  They must always be actively employed and take periods of complete rest to relax their tenseness.  Sagittarians are very popular with a great zest for life.

The tenth sign, Capricorn, the mountain goat is ruled by Saturn.  Humans are now bending their will to attain spiritual accomplishment and Saturn, the great tester and trainer is here to help.  Saturn holds Capricorns down to earth, pressing upon them and sometimes depressing them.  Our humans are now ready to stand on their own two feet and work things out for themselves, rather than following others’ lead.   They are ready for thoughtful, practical work and have appreciation for intellect and the sciences as well as the occult. There is independence and pride, organization and desire for leadership.   There is tact, pity and patience and ability to now see outside of self, using suffering to identify with the feelings of all humanity.  They usually put the work ahead of the chance for fun.  Capricorn may be hard to understand, complex with unusual reactions, and yet with the stern discipline that is part of their lives, they usually live a long time and are quite healthy. 

The eleventh sign, Aquarius, the water bearer, is ruled by Uranus and before its discovery, they were also Saturn ruled.   By now our human is ready to pour out the waters of life, along with all their ideas on others.  By now, they have lost some of their pride and begun to feel that they are a part of the whole.  They are making great steps forward by beginning to give more importance to others than to themselves.    Aquarians like to gather with others in groups to work for the betterment of all.  They are no longer ambitious totally for themselves.  They will work in the background, unless inspired to work for a cause.   Their minds are learning to be non-attached, honest and free.  They have great sympathy for human weakness.  They are still overly-sensitive and can read character well.  This gives intense likes and dislikes.  They have developed some of the finer qualities of the soul, causing them to be delicately balanced.  There can be frail health, yet nobody has more reserve force than these humanitarians. 

The twelfth sign, Pisces, the sign of the fish ruled by Neptune and previously by Jupiter, encompasses the most perfected type of spiritual humans.  The lesson now is the final letting go of the self and complete merging into the lives and feelings of others.  Many wonderful actors are Pisceans, and also great poets, artists and musicians.  Pisces produces the strongest and the weakest types of humans.  The force flowing through them is difficult to handle and unless well-used, they can turn to drink, drugs and other excesses for escape.  Being the sign of fish going in two directions, they can go either way.  They need courage and confidence in themselves to be inspired to great heights of self-denial and attainment.  Having attained the qualities of all the previous signs, they now have a natural understanding.  Pisceans are very devoted to their friends and are the romantics.  They identify with the universe and love traveling and everything about the sea. 

It’s important to note that Astrology subdivides the twelve signs many times over.  The laws of rebirth, karma and free will allow for numberless variations of the order for progressing through these signs.  The number of times the humans have accomplished the full round will determine the old or experienced souls or new souls.  The perfected human is a blend of the best of all the signs.

Scientific Astrology

  I have been reviewing some information from a book written in 1928 called “Simplified Scientific Astrology”.   I found the following facts to be very interesting because I had not heard some of them before.

During the 2000-plus years that have elapsed since the equinox came within orb of Pisces the sign of the fishes, religious rites have required that the people annoint themselves with “Piscean water” at the door of the church.  The service or Mass was performed by a priest whose hat resembled the head of a fish, and were originally told to abstain from eating meat on Fridays and at other times and to eat fish instead.  They were also taught to worship or honor an immaculate virgin (Mary) because Virgo, the sign of the virgin, is the sign  opposite Pisces and the opposite signs are as two sides of the same coin.   This type of worship will continue in a decreasing degree until the sign Aquarius and its opposite sign Leo have replaced the current symbols of christianity.  Having been brought up in the catholic church, I have seen all these Piscean symbols first hand and I know many changes have been taking place through the years.

On either side of the Ecliptic or Sun’s path are a number of fixed stars which form twelve groups or constellations, that are called ‘signs of the zodiac’. These twelve constellations are called the natural zodiac remaining in the same relative positions, so we use a Table of Houses our whole life and yet we must consult an Ephemeris to see the planets’ places every year. 

The sun crosses the celestial equator (precedes it) and this is called the precession of the equinox.   It takes about 2,156 years before the Sun recedes one constellation, traveling one degree about every 72 years; and it takes about 25,868 years for the Sun to circle back through all twelve constellations. 

At the time that we were in the age of Taurus which is the sign of ‘the Bull’  the ancient Egyptians worshipped the sacred ‘Bull Apis’.  Their priests at that time wore the Uraeus or Serpent Symbol belonging to Scorpio  opposite Taurus, to indicate their possession of the esoteric wisdom.

When the Sun went into Aries by precession it became idolatry for ‘the chosen people’ to worship the Bull or ‘golden calf’.  They left Egypt and pinned their faith to the ‘ram’ or  ‘lamb’ which was then slain. According to the esoteric symbol for Libra, the opposite of Aries, which is ‘the scales of justice’,  He shall come again as judge. 

The reason the Aquarian influence has already been felt is because the Sun’s orb is so large that it touches the cusp of Aquarius.  We have seen many new inventions and electronics (computers, smart phones and even smart cars) all brought into our experience.  Aquarius is also the sign of the humanitarian whose symbol is the Water Bearer, pouring out not water as is often suggested, but pouring wonderful ideas on humanity.  The coming possibilities for the human race are wonderful to contemplate.  When the equinox actually crosses into the sign of Aquarius in the year 2654, we should finally see the brotherhood and peace that this world longs to experience!

How does each zodiac sign approach love and romance?  As always, after reading your sun sign, read your Rising Sign too!  If you don’t know what that is, you are missing out on a lot of  information about yourself and you might want to have your natal chart done.  Note that the information below may be modified somewhat if you have a lot of planets in a different sign and if you have planets very close to the Ascendant, which is also called the Rising Sign!

Aries the Ram is very impatient and does not want to waste much time on the chase or on the art of seduction.  They like to be the initiator and tend to fall in love quickly. The physical side of love is always as important as the romantic side.  They are impatient and impulsive and may move on if the flame starts to die down.  They are ruled by Mars.

Taurus the Bull must have beauty or attractiveness in the one they love.  They are known for being down to earth and conservative, yet they make an adoring lover.  They  want a partner who understands their sensitivity and uninhibited side.   There is a tendency toward jealousy, but once they feel secure, they are faithful and like being married, usually not demanding too much in return.  Venus is their ruler.

Gemini, the sign of the Twins – Their dual personality could be like getting two lovers for the price of one.  Needing constant change, they will want to keep  two partners for as long as they can, and it may be hard for them to settle down too soon. They can live happily ever after with someone who is perceptive, loving, and understanding of their dual nature.  Depending on which twin is in control, they could meet a perfect forever partner who offers these qualities.  Quick-moving Mercury is their ruler.

Cancer the Crab looks for the big romantic dream but often it doesn’t turn out to be the rosy path they expected.  After about age forty, they become much wiser.  Security, marriage and a home of their own will bring them the best personal, lasting happiness.  The Moon ruling their sign affects their emotions more than any of the other zodiac signs.  Until Mr. Right comes along, they will enjoy good romance novels and romantic movies.

Leo the Lion has personal magnetism and knows how to make you feel special, even if you aren’t the only one in their life.   Everyone should enjoy being loved by a Leo. They are so warm and considerate, and others could mistake that for a greater interest than they actually feel.  They are dramatic in some way and fun to be around. Once happily married, Leo will be a faithful, protective and caring partner.

Virgo the virgin is not necessarily virginal, but is very discriminating.  They have a delightful mind and good looks that rarely fade with age.  Rather than enjoying the attention they get from others, they look at them analytically.   They are not too anxious to get emotionally attached, but once they feel ready;  both financially and emotionally, they choose a partner very carefully.  They need intellectual compatibility and often find that a mutual interest in work creates a bond.  Mercury is also their ruler.

Libra whose symbol is the scales, is seen as the love goddess of the zodiac and the males are noted for their gentlemanly charm.  They are very refined in love, and in speech and actions.   Small unexpected gifts please them and a gracious, luxurious approach to love works best.   If divorced, they can be very discreet and enjoy experiencing different partnerships.  There is always a partner around the corner for Librans.  Their ruler is Venus.

Scorpio is either the scorpion or the eagle.  Once they find a compatible person who can understand the depths of their nature, they are the most exciting companion.  They can love with great passion if they decide the person is worthy of the emotional drain.  They like being the one in command and can be jealous or experience jealousy from others.  Their love may inspire them to write, paint or sculpt, but if it ends badly, that inspiration will dry up and life will be very dismal for them.  Pluto is their ruler.

Sagittarius the archer is very interested in people  and that naturally leads to romance.  They aim their arrow directly at their target and nothing will deter them from wooing their chosen one. Females are more subtle but no less determined.  Being a fire sign, they rush quickly into romance.  If a partner is not too responsive, they can be content to be an exceptionally good friend.  You may need to remind them of birthdays and anniversaries, but they are not usually found in the divorce courts.

Capricorn is the mountain goat.  Their ruling planet Saturn often puts up barriers in the realm of romance.  Often there is unrequited love and attempting to forget someone, they might go to the altar for reasons other than true love. They are very stable, if a bit serious. They can disguise their feelings very well.  They are usually not happy with secret liaisons, resorting to them only out of loneliness or depression.  Often Saturn allows them true marital happiness later in life.

Aquarius is the water bearer – But this is not a water sign, rather an air sign pouring out ideas on others.    Their ruling planet Uranus, which is the planet of the unusual and unexpected, produces remarkable people in Aquarians.  They like partners who are unconventional in some way.  If friends wonder what Aquarians see in someone, it rarely matters to them because they can see beyond mere physical attraction. They love to be with someone with whom they can have great conversations.

Pisces the fish – they will want full romantic treatment even after the wedding bells have stopped ringing.  They are easily hurt but do get over it quickly.  A Pisces can say good bye quicker than anyone else if they are hurt too much or get bored.   They idealize the loved one and want to create romantic moments as often as they can.   They have practically all the other signs at their mercy when it comes to romance.

Mercury and Jupiter – Enjoy Your Rest!

This week also sees Jupiter taking a rest (going retrograde) all the way into May, (more like a slow down for Mr Jupiter) from giving  out opportunities, growth, expansion and luck.  (from 1/7 through 5/9 when he goes Direct).

To the Virgos, with Jupiter now  in Virgo, worry not, he will be back to either continue what he started or finally get to you.  It all depends if the degrees are early or later in your chart.  If you are a Virgo or have Virgo Rising in your chart, think back to twelve years ago, as to what was happening in your life, and you will get some idea of might be happening for you.  Wherever you have Virgo in your chart, in whatever planet or house, something there will enlarge or expand as Jupiter connects at or near those degrees.    

And, lucky me with Virgo as my Rising Sign (also called the Ascendant). I have been having a pretty good year so far and I am expecting things to pick up in May when Jupiter moves forward again.  Jupiter completes his one year journey in Virgo on 9/10/16 and will then enter the sign of Libra for one year!

 

All Planets Will Go Direct/Forward

 

Beginning December 25th, 2015 with Uranus stationing direct, all of the major planets in our solar system will be moving direct/forward. This continues until January 6th, 2016. 

It’s uniquely a time where the earth’s perspective becomes like the Sun, where the vibration of the solar system can provide an extraordinary kind of cosmic assistance to any endeavor created to benefit human life on earth and where the whole planet can be energized by cosmic fuel rather than fossil fuels.

We might expect new discoveries with Uranus kicking this off including science, astronomy, astrology, technology, national social systems,  and also the potential for instant and massive deep genuine  global peace and harmony. This could also bring a sudden, shocking communication leak that leads to massive, positive changes on our Earth.

Be mindful at every moment of the possibility of an awesome breakthrough toward world harmony and peaceful tolerance among all cultures on Earth. There could even be a moment of  acceptable alien communications.  Who will be contacted is also part of the unknown mystery.

Manifestations can be quickened during this time. Coming together in groups to do such things is also a great way to use this beautiful and empowering astrological energy.  Share this in the coming days leading up to this rare cycle that begins on December 25th, 2015 so we can reach as many people as possible to consciously co-create a beautiful new world during this 11 day cycle.
